Snowboarding clothing tips… Avoid wearing jeans and any other cotton clothing. Cotton fabrics absorb perspiration and this feels very uncomfortable underneath your other snowboarding gear. Snowboarding boots by their very design are very warm so don’t wear multiple socks or thick socks as you’ll end up getting painful blisters. As you’ll be trying to avoid cotton clothing to avoid sweat absorption then go for acrylic or wool-based clothing and socks.
To keep warm aim for 3 layers of clothing. The first layer should be a synthetic (polyester) fabric thermal underwear style layer. The second layer will form insulation to keep you warm. Such items include sweatshirts, pullovers Etc. The final layer is the waterproofing layer and wind-proofing layer. These items are your snowboarding pants and snowboarding jackets.
Snowboard helmets don’t seem cool to many people but the consequences of not wearing one can be severe or even fatal. It’s your call but we certainly recommend having one as a standard piece of your kit.
A face mask or scarf is another essential piece of gear often overlooked by beginners. If you have never been snowboarding then it’s difficult to imagine how cold the air is when you are rocketing down a mountain. It’s incredibly cold! Protect your face and your snowboarding will be much more enjoyable for such a low-cost addition to your equipment.
For gloves, don’t try save money on these. Buy a good, insulated pair and they’ll serve you well.
Snowboarding boots are again another piece of your snowboarding equipment that you should invest a good amount of money in. Of course you can spend less but with snowboarding boots you’re highly likely to suffer if you opt for the cheaper ones. A good pair will last years compared to the cheaper ones also so in the long run they kind of end up cheaper in that respect.
